Renault Duster

Renault has made an impressive entry into the Indian passenger car market with the Fluence and recently with the Koleos premium SUV. However, as expected, pretty soon the company will be launching the Duster in India. The SUV is a tough and reliable off-roader and is also one of the cheapest full grown SUVs to be sold in the world. India will get the latest and the updated version that is sold under the Dacia brand name in key international markets.

As seen from these pictures, the Renault Duster is quite a smart and robust looking SUV. The front end has a slight aggresion to it with a smartly designed bumper that also part houses the under engine bash plate. You also notice the muscular and flared wheel arches and the running black matt panels across the length, broken by the smart looking step guard. The rear again, for this price, is impressive with cute tail lamps and a silver finish rear bash plate integrated into the rear bumper. The Indian Duster will also get running roof rails.

The cabin of the Renault Duster immediately makes you remember the Mahindra Verito (earler the Renault Logan). Lot of parts seem to have been picked up from the Verito like the air-con vents and power window switches. Like the Verito / Logan, even the Duster has centrally placed power window switches. The Duster will strictly be a comfortable 5-seater with loads of boot space on avail. Interiors will get ABS, air-bags, driver info display etc. Also expect generous space and high quality plastics. On the engine front, the Renault Duster will come with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine variants are called RxE and RxL and it will be a 1.6-litre unit generating 102PS of power. However, as is the case with the Indian market, the diesel is the one that will be the better seller of the two and there are two choices- a 1.5 litre 85BPS and 110PS engine. The diesels will come in RxE, RxL and RxZ variants. As far as gearbox is concerned, the 85PS Duster will have a five speed gearbox and the 110PS one will have a six speed gearbox, the petrol will have the five-speed gearbox only.

Here is a summary of all the features of the Duster!

         Stylish Chrome grille
Twin barrel headlamps
16'' Alloy Wheels, Front Fog Lamps
Keyless entry
ABS with Brake Assist & EBD
Dual front Airbags
Plush Leather Upholstery
4 Speaker Music System with USB, AUX-IN & Bluetooth Connectivity
Satellite Audio & phone control
Rear Defogger, rear wiper & washer
Electrically adjustable ORVMs
Rear parking sensors
A Boot capacity of 475 litres.
The Renault Duster will come with both 4x2 and 4x4 models. The mileage figures are excellent also- 20 kmpl and 19 kmpl for the diesels and 13 kmpl for the petrol. Prices will start at around Rs 7.2 lakh for the 1.6 petrol (base) going all the way upto Rs 12 lakh for the top-end diesel - a direct hit at the Mahindra Scorpio and the Tata Safari!

its an offering off 1.6 & and 1.5 litre petrol and diesel engine respectively. this is the most dumbest strategy by renault whom are they trying to target. the dumb crowd ???? iindian brands like mahindra are offerin their scorpio with 2.0 litre power train for almost around the same price and with better service guarantee. do these guys think that ppl are gonna buy an "SUV" with such low power output this is probably another junk by renault or they might be testing waters before they can yank this model out and get an upgraded version but my personal opinion not worth it. should wait & watch :)

Ergonomics Matters a lot, If they are made comfortable this Machine will sell like hot cakes, and real competition to XUV500/Scorpio's and even For the fortuner, No SUV has such Mileage delivery as stated on thier Portal
